Where do we begin?! After our initial phone call with Steph all we knew is that we were getting married in Iceland and we were having Steph (of Zakas Photography) as our photographer and no one else — we didn’t know what to do, what to pack, or how it even works. Steph guided us through the whole process little by little step by step. The thing I stressed about the most was if I needed to scrub the dirt of my shoes before hand. 😂

How Adventure Iceland Elopements work.

Iceland elopements are relaxing, fun, and pretty darn flexible. The beauty of having an Adventure Elopement in Iceland is that you can essentially do whatever you want. The majority of the Iceland elopements I help facilitate run semi similar. We will start with you getting ready (together or separate), adventuring to your hand-picked Iceland elopement ceremony site, saying your vows with or without a local Icelandic Celebrant, then we will adventure around to some of the most breathtaking landscapes Iceland has to offer (and dare I say in the world) for the rest of your elopement day along your location itinerary.

We might hike, swim, or climb. We will definitely laugh a lot, probably cry a little, and eat some snacks together.

The main takeaway about an Iceland elopements is:
they’re whatever you want them to be.

Elopements are flexible, relaxed, fun, and give you a full day to celebrate with your love without any other distractions.

How to plan an Iceland Elopement abroad.

First, I suggest you do some research and first hire an experienced Iceland elopement photographer for the day, and hand-on-heart more importantly a local Iceland elopement photographer and planner. Iceland is far too unique and unpredictable to not hire a local Iceland elopement photographer and true planner who is familiar with the terrain and weather in all seasons with many, many years of experience as one year could look totally different than the last.

Your elopement photographer will be key in your elopement day as any good one will also be your planner for your entire Iceland elopement experience. I know I am biased, but I can not stress enough how picking an experienced Iceland local in this will not only give you the best elopement experience possible from start to finish, but will also be able to guide you throughout the entire Iceland elopement process.

After that, you will need to book your elopement accommodation, car rental, plan anything you want to do for the days before / after your elopement wedding, and gather any paperwork you will need to legally get married in Iceland from another country. The cost of an Iceland elopement all depends on what you want your elopement to include, how long you want to vacation in Iceland, what kind of elopement day will make you feel how you want to feel, and for how many hours or days you want for your Iceland elopement. And, finally, how much do you want to be taken care of for your Iceland elopement as you can hire vendors that are rather ‘‘hands-off’’ or you can hire vendors who will take care of you for the entire experience.

The average cost of an Iceland elopement which would include a week in Iceland, experienced Iceland elopement vendors, a legal Iceland wedding ceremony, and a full-day elopement is around $10,000 USD.
