10 years from now, you might not remember the name of that amazing hole-in-the-wall restaurant you stumbled upon in that tiny fishing town you had lunch at.
But 20 years from now, you’ll still remember how it felt standing on that tall cliff with the sea breeze on your face, saying your vows to your favorite person, before you spent the rest of the day frolicking free in the most epic landscapes you’ve ever seen.
''You have ended up here reading about Steph which means your search has ended— hoorah!''
‘Whoever you are, and whatever you’re doing, just stop. You have ended up here reading about Steph which means your search has ended - hoorah! I can promise you that she is exactly what you want and honestly, she is exactly what you need. Steph is passionate about love and it shows; not only in her indescribable pictures but even in the way she interacts with you. It is so evident that her motivation is to make your day exactly what you want it be…and then go beyond that to exceed your wildest expectations!’’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

From her insane photography skills to her amazing recommendations for delicious craft beer. Anything you need while planning your elopement day - She is there!
From the moment we met Steph we just knew she would make our day special. She’s passionate about her art and passionate about making the bride and groom feel super special on their day! (And when you meet her you’ll feel like you’ve known her forever. It’s like a crazy magic power she has!) She was there for assistance with planning needs and was also an amazing tour guide on our wedding day. Just received our photos back today and we are going to need to get absolutely everything printed.
‘‘She is exactly what you want and exactly what you need… she beautifully captured the impulsivity of the [elopement] day.’’
‘‘It took a ton of stress off me to have her able to pick out locations and plan our elopement day.
Planning a private Iceland elopement in West Iceland during the summer is so dreamy.
Here’s what we did to plan H&D’s most perfect Iceland elopement with seclusion, privacy, and even Icelandic horses.
After 11 years as a couple, K&J wanted an Iceland Elopement Experience to commemorate their relationship.
When K & D first reached out, they were clear about one thing: they didn't want a conventional wedding, they wanted an Iceland elopement adventure with a marriage in the middle of it.
Reykjavík is underrated in my opinion — and perfect for eloping.
When one thinks of Iceland elopements, typically what comes to mind is a backdrop of waterfalls, glaciers, and giant ravines. However, the dark horse of the Iceland elopement is a Reykjavík City Hall elopement and city adventure after.
When you’re traveling to Iceland to elope in the summer it’s best to take advantage of the Highland being open and the most epic locations being accessible.
That’s exactly what A&A did on this Summer Iceland Elopement in the Central Highland.
What was originally planned for this September Iceland elopement for C&A had us adventuring to locations a few hours away from Reykjavik and on top of mountains, but, Iceland had other plans for us that day.
K&M wanted an intimate, private Iceland elopement with as many waterfalls as we could fit into the day, so that’s what they got.
Iceland Elopement in a Blue Ice Glacier Cave in South Iceland.
It’s no wonder eloping to Iceland has become a popular choice for Adventurers eloping from all over the world. I have couples who come here from Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, all the way to China. With its unique and beautiful landscapes, it's easy to see why! If you're considering eloping in Iceland, consider doing it in a glacier cave! Glacial caves are truly a one-of-a-kind experience that you won't find anywhere else in the world. Here are some things to think about when eloping in a glacier cave in Iceland.
When S & A envisioned their perfect Iceland elopement day, they dreamed of something extraordinary and this sunny October day delivered.
We had such a fun, summer storybook romance kind of day that was the quintessential meaning of freedom. I love Snæfellsnes Peninsula, it was one of my first loves the very first time I ever visited Iceland before I was a resident. It’s filled with folklore, saga stories, hidden people, trolls, and is the inspiration of so much literature.
It was a hot summer Iceland day for this private mountain valley elopement.
These two came to Iceland with a few of their favorite people wanting a truly private, romantic, and intimate elopement.
There’s something so special about an elopement in Iceland that is just the couple, in a private and meaningful ceremony, overlooking a beautiful fjord.
I started photographing weddings almost 20 years ago (what, how) and I’ve been involved in my fair share of wedding days. Over 300, actually. I’ve been a part of weddings with 650 guests, down to just the usual 150 to 200 guests. I’ve been side-by-side with the couples in every type of wedding from the super-luxury where the flowers alone cost over 6-figures (yes, over $100,000 on flowers), to micro-weddings in quirky breweries, to weddings in theme parks.
Ashley and Kevin planned a Reykjavik ceremony and a Snæfellsnes, Iceland elopement that was filled with special details and deep meaning. From a custom kilt to a love story fit for a movie screen, this couple proved that elopements can be everything you have ever dreamed of.
Fun two day elopement in Iceland on Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Sometimes just one day of photography in the EPIC landscapes of Iceland is simply not enough for your Iceland elopement.
This Iceland vow renewal was so intimate and romantic, it’ll make you want to jump on a plane and renew your vows here too!
Libby and Tripp’s South Coast Iceland Elopement had everything (and more) that I’ve come to expect when shooting on the south side of the island—the epic scenery of the South Coast of Iceland, constantly changing weather, and an ever-changing playground of possibility.
This private Kirkjufell Mountain Elopement in Iceland was the perfect balance of laid-back and low key mixed in with big-sky romance.
This rainy day Iceland elopement had the cutest DIY details. Eloping in Iceland is always a big adventure giving the most epic elopement photos, but sometimes the weather has a mind of its own. Which means being spontaneous during your elopement day will make the adventure event more unique.
The black church in Budir is a classic Iceland elopement choice and was perfect for this adventure micro wedding elopement with a traditional ceremony including their family and friends.
My. oh my. Strap in friend-os because you’re about to witness the most awesome, epic, and perfect Iceland elopement. This elopement had everything: DIY dress made by the brides mother and grandma-in-law, a picnic at the top of one of the most SPECTACULAR & MAGICAL waterfalls in all of Iceland, a private ceremony in downtown Reykjavik then an ultra private vow reading ceremony at the top of a 405ft canyon, and even some Mars and Venus in between.
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland is one of my top 5 favorite places on the planet. It was perfect for Lindsay & Ryan’s Adventure Elopement. It has #allthethings and it is absolutely breathtaking no matter what kind of weather we are having that day.
Reykjavik Harbor was the perfect place for Anne & Chris’ Elopement. As an Adventure Elopement Photographer & Planner, I love helping to find the perfect place that will capture your own personal love story.
Ayaka & Andrew knew that Snaefellsnes and the Londrangar Lava Pillars would be the most epic location for their Iceland Elopement. These two were incredibly sweet on each other, we had so much fun together during their wedding day, and they were 100% game for ALLLLL the adventure on their day.
Iceland elopement at the little black church in Búðir on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland was one for the books. It was off-the-charts-hard-to-top, and I mean it.
I love how Rena & Chad trusted me 100% to be their Photographer for their Iceland Elopement in Secret Canyon. When we were rained out of our first location, they knew that where ever else I had in mind to go would embody these two and their love completely.
I absolutely love that being an Iceland Elopement & Wedding Photographer gives me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful, warm souls. These two decided to get married in Iceland and I could not be happier that we had the opportunity to become friends and they gave me the honor to document their day.
Winters in Iceland can be pretty cold and pretty darn windy. That did not stop these two from having the most intentional vow reading together that they could have.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steph (of Zakas Photography) was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! She made it incredibly easy to plan a wedding 3,000 miles away. She was super responsive to any and all questions… On our wedding adventure photos she was so much fun to be with, we had a blast… We had a great time with her, she’s an excellent tour guide and even better photographer, she is amazing and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone! I couldn’t imagine anyone more perfect for the job than her to capture these beautiful memories for us!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Where do we begin?! After our initial phone call with Steph all we knew is that we were getting married in Iceland and we were having Steph (of Zakas Photography) as our photographer and no one else — we didn’t know what to do, what to pack, or how it even works. Steph guided us through the whole process little by little step by step. The thing I stressed about the most was if I needed to scrub the dirt of my shoes before hand. 😂
On our elopement day, a storm rolled in 24 hours before and the weather was very spicy! Steph worked with the punches and we got amazing photos! 10/10 would recommend booking with Steph… 💕
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steph (of Zakas Photography) is amazing, her photography was just exquisite. Steph is very professional, friendly, knowledgeable in all questions we had regarding our wedding, and set out an itinerary for our lovely wedding day. The locations she took us too were breath-taking. Always kept in contact with us, and prompt in communication. I would recommend Zakas Photography for your wedding.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steph (of Zakas Photography) was an amazing photographer! It felt like she knew us our whole life and picked the absolute perfect locations for our photos. She made us feel like we were at home, on the biggest day of our lives, in a foreign country.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steph (of Zakas Photography) is not only an incredible photographer, but she is an excellent source for all things Iceland and your adventure elopement. My husband and I cannot thank Steph enough for curating our special day and making it feel effortless and fun. I highly recommend you talk to her if you're considering eloping in Iceland. Just look at the pictures this woman can take; how can you not be convinced?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved working with Steph (of Zakas Photography). I was able to show her some of my inspiration and she captured it perfectly! Would definitely recommend!!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
STEPHANIE ZAKAS IS A UNICORN! I’m not kidding either – We eloped on November 2nd in Iceland and our experience was everything and more than we hoped for thanks to Stephanie.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We wanted our wedding to be completely for ourselves - this was a celebration of our love and our future. We love to travel and love everything outdoors. I think it would have been a big compromise to ourselves and the beginning of our marriage to do it any other way.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steph (of Zakas Photography) captured not only the big moments of our wedding- the I Do’s, the kiss, the crying - but also the small ones you forget or the ones that you don’t think anyone else would notice. She has some insane ability to be present in those private moments when you feel like it’s you and your partner against the world.
We’ll all be together during your elopement so it’s super important that we connect and you feel comfortable with me.
If you’re planning an elopement outside of Iceland, I’ve got you, too!
Maybe a hiking elopement in Iceland, a castle elopement in Scotland, a mountain top elopement in Norway, or a nature-centered wedding anywhere in the world- I’m here to help you and make you feel like you’ve been taken care of every step of the way.
If I’ll be traveling where you’re eloping, I’ll make your custom elopement there, too.
One that marks the beginning of the memoir you’re writing together.
Think about the original connection that brought the two of you together. What if your wedding represented how that felt?
If honoring a tradition like a big wedding feels like that’s for other couples then let’s plan one that embodies your entire relationship.
D&S came to Iceland to elope on their own terms and to enjoy each other, undistracted. They knew they wanted an elopement and Iceland was the perfect fit for their personalities.
Planning this Iceland elopement was a double bonus for me because D is a fellow roller derby skater / friend of mine.
