When the couple are fellow(ship) Lord of the Rings nerds, with an Arwen inspired dress, at a Rivendell-like location — this is what you need to do for the Iceland Engagement Photoshoot.

K&D’s Iceland Engagement Session was not only incredibly fun, but we also got the chance to nerd-out and bond over our shared love for Lord of the Rings on this multi-location session.

It’s a tradition with my husband and I to watch the 3 Lord of The Rings films — yes, the extended versions — on New Years Day. Sometimes, finishing up The Return of the King the following day. And every day at home, you can find me in my oversized White Tree of Gondor sweatshirt. So when I learned not only are they both equally in love with the story, but K chose her dress to feel like Arwen, I couldn’t wait to capture them with my cameras.

So it was not only exciting to have a LOTR-inspired Iceland engagement session which I could photograph cinematically like the films, but I could take them to a waterfall that always reminds me of one you might find in Rivendell. D even has a LOTR tattoo, so, we were all-in.

This Iceland engagement session is a perfect example for other couples to follow.

It was dreamy, adventurous, and had the option of multiple locations for multiple outfit choices. What’s better than an Arwen inspired wedding dress and handmade Icelandic sweaters from The Handknitting Association of Iceland? The best of both worlds.

For Iceland engagement sessions, or even Iceland proposal sessions, having a multi-hour and multi-day experience lends the flexibility in being able to wear different outfits for different looks.

Here are the benefits to having a multi-day Iceland Engagement or Proposal Photosession:

  1. You will have more hours for more Iceland Engagement photo locations with different looks to them.

  2. You can have many outfit choices such as dressed up and fancy or casual hiking and outdoor clothing.

  3. You will have more options for the Save The Dates you send out to notify your wedding guests or friends and family to your engagement.

  4. Logistically, you can have the option to have the days split at different parts of your Iceland trip.

For K&D’s Iceland engagement session, we had the flexibility of 2 totally different areas with 2 totally different outfit choices so they could have the max options for their Iceland engagement photos as a newly engaged couple, and, show both sides of their personalities.
