A Private Iceland Secret Proposal for an LGBTQIA+ Couple Getting Engaged

The beauty of being in Iceland, is that even on rainy, foggy, and moody days — it’s still beautiful for an Iceland proposal.
For D&C, their Iceland proposal photo session was gloomy but the proposal was an epic surprise. When clients come to me wanting to propose to their partner, but they are worried and stressed about keeping it a secret, I love being able to calm their nerves.
D wanted to make sure that C had no idea she was about to be proposed to, and like many of my clients, she had a hunch it would happen on this Iceland vacation. She just didn’t know how or when.
Planning this Iceland proposal, keeping it a secret, and ensuring it fit seamlessly and smoothly into the Iceland vacation plans D&C had already booked was absolute key to keeping this Iceland proposal a secret surprise.
I very meticulously coordinate and plan Iceland secret proposals because I know how important it is. And, most people popping the question want to create an epic moment, so there is a lot to consider.
Here are some things we had to consider for this secret Iceland proposal in the moody Autumn Iceland weather:
I as the photographer (and planner) could not be obvious as why I was there, so we had a whole plan and story worked up.
Like all of my Iceland proposal clients, the Iceland proposal location had to be as private as possible, which means, it’s almost certain we will be the only three people at the chosen Iceland proposal location.
Being the only three people there means I can’t blend in with a crowd, which, is actually preferred so I can secretly coordinate and guide the entire experience and make sure I don’t miss the shot. Or, that the proposal doesn’t happen when the cameras aren’t ready and the background is the best.
The moody Iceland autumn weather is something that we really need to ride the wave with. When it’s a secret, and the plans have been laid alongside the rest of the trip, it’s a bit tricky to suddenly change plans without impacting the rest of the trip. For D&C, their Iceland proposal happened just outside their accommodation for the night before, that they checked out of, and was going to be in a completely different area of Iceland the following day.
However, though it wasn’t sunny, it was Iceland in all its beauty. And personally, I prefer the moody days.
So, once the plan was set, the plan went into action, and the Iceland proposal D&C wanted — with a picnic in the rain at a waterfall in the end — was a complete success.
