A West Iceland Waterfalls Elopement in Late Summer with Nontraditional Black Wedding Dress
A West Iceland Waterfalls Elopement in Late Summer with Nontraditional Black Wedding Dress

K&M wanted an intimate, private Iceland elopement with as many waterfalls as we could fit into the day, so that’s what they got.
K&M’s love story in Iceland did not want a crowd to witness them. These two gamers wanted mountains, waterfalls, and the kind of experience that the landscapes could consume them. When K&M first contacted me it was abundantly clear what vibe they had for their vision as they were most excited about Iceland’s scenery and being able to explore vast, open, secluded areas to have a truly intimate Iceland elopement. They did not want to worry about the hustle and bustle of a traditional wedding or how stressful the mornings of conventional weddings tend to be.
For K&M, this was their second marriages each so they knew what traditional weddings were like and wanted no part in it for their very special commitment to one another in Iceland.
They knew exactly what they wanted for their second marriage in Iceland — no fuss, no traditional expectations, just them in the stunning West Iceland landscape while K wore an elegant black wedding dress that reminded me of Alicent Hightower in HBO’s House of The Dragon. As gamers, metal music lovers, and self-proclaimed nerds, they weren't interested in fitting into anyone's idea of what a wedding "should" look like. They wanted something real, something theirs, and something that’s totally unaplogetic.
Planning an elopement in a foreign country like Iceland can feel overwhelming, so K&M needed a true partner in Iceland to pull together their vision.
There are so many moving pieces to a full-day Iceland Elopement and even more when you add on planning a vacation and travel to Iceland on top of it. And on top of the moving pieces, there can feel like even more decisions that need to be made, like:
Where to stay in Iceland?
Where to stay that makes sense for the Iceland elopement to fit into the trip?
Where are the best places to eat while in Iceland?
How to make the Iceland elopement private, intimate, and meaningful at the same time?
K&M came to Iceland in the late summer, when the landscape shifts from greens to gold and when the low sunlight makes the waterfalls look magical.
So in order to pull those pieces together for their Iceland elopement and answer the burning questions they had about fitting everything into their trip, we explored the lesser-known corners of West Iceland, away from tour buses and crowds, finding intimate spots where they could share their vows in complete privacy.
The most powerful moment of their day came when they finally shared their personal vows after a fierce game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who would go first. Their vow reading was something they'd been looking forward to for a long time. After that, it was just pure jokes, sharing our favorite metal bands, and nerding out as I guided them from epic location to epic location.
For couples who've been previously married before, or for anyone who feels like the traditional wedding just isn't them, an Iceland elopement is the perfect experience for you.
Spend your time, money, and energy on an Iceland elopement experience that actually matters to you while creating memories in a place that takes your breath away rather than stressing over seating charts and dinner menus. Iceland's vast variety of landscapes provide the perfect backdrop for committing to this milestone together on your own terms.
