A&A knew they wanted something private, secluded, epic, and something that truly felt like it was a once-in-a-lifetime moment. They planned their Iceland elopement to be within a huge trip for themselves so they wanted their elopement to reflect just how special of a trip it really is. This was a trip that they had been planning and saving for for a long time and so any ole’ elopement wouldn’t cut it for them. They wanted to go into places that felt like they were in Lord of the Rings and that’s exactly what this area of Iceland reminds me of.

The Central Highland Iceland landscapes are some of the most secluded, remote, and remarkable areas in all of Iceland.

The vast volcanic ash fields with volcanoes lining the horizon feel like you’re on the quest to Mordor to throw that dang ring into the molten lava. The waterfalls that seem to pop up out of nowhere are like your own visit to Rivendell. And, the lakes and mountains feel like you’re just on the stark of the trek before Gandalf turns into Gandalf The White.

What’s even better is that you can have this adventure in a huge 4x4 Mountain truck instead of having to walk for months on end like the Fellowship had to do. Wins all around, and, it’s way more fun I’d imagine.
