When K & D first reached out, they were clear about one thing: they didn't want a conventional wedding, they wanted an Iceland elopement adventure with a marriage in the middle of it.

K and D are the kind of couple who travel not to check places off a list but to actually sink into somewhere new. They like finding the local spots, the good food, the unexpected corners. Iceland had already gotten under their skin after a day and a half the previous October, and they knew they needed to come back and do something bigger with it. The moss, the lava fields, the colors that don't exist anywhere else and they wanted to get married inside all of that, not in front of it.

Planning their Iceland elopement with a few guests with K and D looked less like logistics and more like a conversation.

K was upfront that she's not a planner, that she wanted someone to take the reins and just bring them along for it, and that's exactly the kind of elopement I love building. We talked through what actually matters to them: time in the landscape, a hot spring or sauna stop on their travels in Iceland, good food, good drinks, and the freedom to just be present. D has a healthy respect for heights but is fine when he feels secure in a space so I chose areas that had the views but not the unsteadiness of heights.

Most importantly, they wanted a private Iceland elopement with their guests that felt grounded, low-key, and intimate.

On the day, we moved through Iceland the way it deserves to be moved through which is slowly and with attention. Their friend officiated, which meant the ceremony itself had the warmth and specificity that a stranger just can't bring to it.

What they wanted from the very beginning was photo evidence of an adventure for their Iceland elopement — and that's what we prioritised in the planning, the adventure, and their final delivered story in image form.
