An Autumn Iceland Couple's Storybook Adventure Session in Volcanic Landscapes
An Autumn Iceland Couple's Storybook Adventure Session in Volcanic Landscapes
by a Local Iceland Photographer
L&C celebrated their 10 year wedding anniversary in Iceland and wanted a fun adventure photography session to commemorate it.
They loved the idea of capturing Iceland’s beautiful landscapes and put emphasis on creating not just portraits but art from their vacation in Iceland together. They were looking for an adventure that they could be together and celebrate each other while exploring breathtaking caves, black sand beaches, moss fields, and giant lava structures.
Like many Iceland anniversary adventure photosessions I document, this wasn’t the first time L&C had one, they did this for their 5 year anniversary, too.
It was their first time visiting Iceland and Iceland showed up with pretty typical Autumn in Iceland weather on the day of.
After some Iceland location matchmaking on my end to curate the best spots that would give them what they wanted — greens, epic areas, easily understood it being Iceland (or Mars in this case when it had water), and secluded — we went to this gorgeous Southern Iceland area.
Once we began the session, Iceland showed us most of what it has to offer in a span of 90 minutes. We had gorgeous, autumn golden light. We had rain. We had fog. We had some snow flurries.
After hiding in a cave on a black sand beach, the rain stopped long enough for us to capture truly dreamy images. This is why I love Iceland, the only thing you can predict is that it will be unpredictable and you are along with the ride as Mother Nature is the director.
