Things To Do On Your Iceland Honeymoon | Iceland Elopement Photographer

Planning your Iceland honeymoon? It’s not just one of the world’s go-to destinations for elopements, it’s also one of the raddest places in the world to explore on your honeymoon.

If you’re planning to hop the pond for your Iceland elopement and you’re looking for fun and funky things to do on your Iceland honeymoon, I’ve got some stellar faves to share with you. No matter what you’re into—adventuring, eating, drinking, sleeping under the stars or just staring in wonder at a whole building full of preserved penises 😜, there’s something for everyone who wants to travel around during their honeymoon in Iceland.

Adventure & Sightseeing During Your Honeymoon in Iceland

If you’ve got the travel bug and love adventuring and sightseeing, an Iceland honeymoon will not disappoint! Here are some adventurous ideas for planning the best dang honeymoon ever in Iceland.

Soak in the Geosea Sea Baths in Húsavik

Taking a relaxing dip in a hot pool should be on every Iceland honeymoon bucket list. Iceland is a hotspot for geothermal pools (wink, wink), and there’s something so romantic and fun about cozying up in the rejuvenating waters while surrounded by nature.

The Geosea Sea Baths in Húsavik are an awesome option. Mineral-rich pools with breathtaking views of the Skjálfandi Bay make it the perfect place to relax after your adventure elopement in Iceland. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of some whales or the northern lights!

And did we mention they have a swim-up bar, so you can even enjoy a bevvie while you soak? This is not something that you’ll find at every pool!

Take a Dip in the Mývatn Nature Baths

Rugged yet luxurious, the Mývatn Nature Baths are another favorite. You and your partner can chill in a not-so-chilly lagoon while taking in the snowy scenery. The water is comfortably hot at around 36–40°C and, like all geothermal pools in Iceland, the minerals are said to have several healing effects.

The steam baths are also worth a visit. Built right on top of a geothermal area, the steam rises naturally through the floor. The perfect way to sweat out any celebratory bubbly after your elopement!

Road Trip Around Ring Road

If you love road tripping and sightseeing, this Iceland honeymoon adventure is for you! Ring Road is an 800-mile loop that basically travels along the circumference of Iceland. It’s a rad way to take in what this amazing country has to offer, especially since the landscapes vary greatly from one end to the next!

I would recommend taking your time, if you can, and making a few overnight stops along the way so that you can enjoy the cool vibes of the towns along with the beautiful scenery.

Book an Iceland Adventure Tour

Travelers come to Iceland expecting adventure. There are plenty of fun Iceland tours to choose from—from helicopter tours to horse riding tours to Jeep tours, and more!

Whether you’re dying to see the breathtaking northern lights, go whale watching, explore ice caves, or visit some of the most amazing waterfalls in the world, you’ll find it here!

Kayak on the Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Imagine kayaking on beautiful green-blue waters, paddling amongst giant icebergs in an icy wonderland. Sounds pretty cool, right? (pun intended 🤓).

That’s the unique kind of stuff that a honeymoon in Iceland has to offer! Book a tour and enjoy breathtaking views and explore areas that you’d never see otherwise.

Food & Drink to Enjoy on Your Iceland Honeymoon

Iceland is quickly becoming known for its tasty food and drink scene. The word I would use to describe food and drink in Iceland is “authentic”. Real people with a real passion for what they create!

Sip & Soak at the Bjórböðin Beer Spa

Beer has especially blown up in Iceland in recent years (Craft Beer Lovers rejoice!). Plenty of breweries have opened and are making delicious beers for thirsty patrons.

One of the most unique beer experiences in Iceland, however, has to be the Bjórböðin Beer Spa. Soak in a wood bathtub full of beer, water, yeast and hops while also sipping on a brew straight out of the beer draught (each tub has its own).

Why sit in a beer bath? Apparently the low pH, vitamin B, antioxidants, and other oils and minerals in the beer are great for your skin and hair. Who knew!

Dine at an Icelandic Restaurant

There are several restaurants in Iceland that offer unique menus and exceptional dining experiences. Some make a point to use as many local ingredients as possible, which in Iceland can be an interesting challenge!

If you and your partner are foodies, I recommend adding Dill Restaurant, Mat Bar, and Skál to your list.

Warm Up With a Whiskey Tasting

If you’re a whiskey fan, you’ll love this one! With over 170 different whiskeys, you can sample to your heart’s content at Dillon (just remember to mix in a few waters and maybe some electrolytes, yo 😉). Conveniently, it doubles as a great way to shake off the cold.

They also serve up some great grub. Lifting whiskey glasses can work up an appetite!

Treat Yourself at the Omnom Chocolate Factory

No honeymoon in Iceland is complete without a trip to the legendary Omnom Chocolate Factory. They make small-batch, “bean-to-bar” treats with the highest quality ingredients and a dash of ingenuity.

Learn how these decadent chocolates are made while trying fun flavours like sea salted toffee, lakkris and raspberry, superchocoberrybarley nibblynuttylicious (yep!), and chocolate made with different cocoa beans from around the world.

Iceland Honeymoon Entertainment

Catch Some Live Music

Like most places in the world, music is a huge part of the culture here in Iceland. There’s almost always somewhere to catch a live show and maybe even bust a move or two in Reykjavík, like Dillon (the whiskey bar mentioned earlier) and Húrra.

Gawk at the Icelandic Phallological Museum

This IS a list of fun and funky ideas, after all. How could I not include the Icelandic Phallological Museum (in other words, the penis museum)?

This is definitely a one-of-a-kind Icelandic experience. Here you’ll find phallic specimens (try not to giggle) of all the types of mammals native to Iceland. That’s over 215 penises.

And, as funny as it sounds, it’s actually quite fascinating!

Funky Iceland Accommodations for Honeymoons

There are so many unique places to stay in Iceland. Some of the accommodations you’ll find are truly amazing!

Is there anything more romantic and awe-inspiring than sleeping under the stars? Your honeymoon in Iceland is the perfect time to make it happen! The stars here are truly out of this world, and accommodations like the Panorama Glass Lodge and the 5 Million Star Hotel let you sleep under the stars in posh comfort.

Honeymooning and Eloping in Iceland

Whether you’re just honeymooning in Iceland or you’re planning to elope in Iceland as well, you’re going to want to capture the amazing memories you create!
