How To Celebrate After Your Adventure Elopement With Your Family | Elopement Photographer & Planner

Your adventure elopement is an intimate affair, and my wish for you is that your family understands your reasons for doing it this way. I get it —this isn’t “traditional”, but who says your wedding has to be? And who says you can’t make your own traditions as you go along? I say your wedding should be all about you, your partner, and your love together!

Regardless of your reasons for choosing an elopement, whether it be money, stress, time, or any multitude of other reasons, I’m SO glad you’ve followed your heart! Even if it’s just the two of you on your wedding day, there’s no reason you can’t include your family and loved ones after the fact. I’ve put together a thoughtful list of four ways to celebrate with your family after your adventure elopement.

Have A Reception

Let’s face it, it can be so nerve wracking being in front of your friends, family, and everyone you’ve ever known, and professing your love for your partner in front of each and every one of them. It can be scary —I get it. But it doesn’t have to be this way! You’ve skipped that part! You’ve already eloped, and probably said your vows on a mountain top, or below a rushing waterfall, or maybe on a secluded beach far away from everyone. As long as you’ve done it somewhere that sets your soul on firethat’s what matters! Invite your favourite people over for a lighthearted “after-the-fact” gathering and celebrate your love the way you want! Your family will appreciate being included in your celebration in any way they can!

Have An Intimate Photo/Video Viewing Party

I might be biased, but getting your photos back from your adventure elopement is one of the best parts! And since it was just the two or you, and maybe a few people you couldn’t live without, there’s likely so many photos, in so many amazing locations! That’s what you get when you skip the big wedding!

A nice, easy, and cheap way to celebrate with your family after your adventure elopement is to invite them over for appetizers, drinks, and photo viewing! These days it’s so easy to pop a memory stick in a projector, log into your gallery on a smart TV, or just set up your laptop on a slideshow. Your family will ooh and ahh over the fabulousness that was your elopement from the comfort of home! This way you can relive your day all over, with the people you love most.

Send A Card

Whether it’s before your adventure elopement —announcing your decision, or afterwards —revealing your marriage, sending thoughtful stationary is a great way to celebrate with friends and family, near and far. People love getting mail, and sending a beautiful piece of stationary, including a few breathtaking photos from your adventure elopement is a great way to let your relatives know you were thinking of them on your big day. They will love being able to display a card on their fridge, and it’s an easy, inexpensive way of making your loved ones feel included.

Ask For Well Wishes

If your elopement isn’t a secret, (which it totally doesn’t have to be, up to you) consider asking your family members to write congratulations and well wishes on note cards for you and your partner to read aloud before, during, or after your adventure elopement ceremony. Yes, I know this isn’t technically celebrating with them, but you’ll feel like they’re there, and if there’s photos or video of you reading their notes, they’ll feel like they were too.
